Diving is a sport enjoyed by millions of people around the world; for some it can be as simple as throwing on a set of snorkel and flippers and enjoying the under water scenery, for others this can mean taking full dive courses such as an open water 1 course, this allows them to experience deeper dives of up to 15m. You can then progress through the different stages of diving to open water 2 and then after that you can train to become an instructor. Snorkelling is normally where the beginners start and then once they’ve got the ‘water bug’ they then tend to move on from there as they wish to explore deeper territories. As you get more experience you will then also be allowed to undertake more advanced dives such as night dives and wreck dives.
Assuming you’re a beginner diver let’s take a look at some tips.
Dive healthy – This may sound like a no brainer but you’ll be surprised at how people think it’s okay to dive when not feeling well. Pressurised environments such as deep sea diving can put strain on your body, so if you’re feeling unwell at all such as flu, sinus problems or just generally run down then please leave the dive for next time and let your body re-generate now.
Stay Calm and relax – The undersea world is an amazing place; at first it can seem daunting being in a new environment and using all of this new equipment. The sooner you learn to relax and enjoy the environment the sooner you’ll really start to enjoy the wonders of this under water paradise.
Conservation – We unfortunately live in a world where large industries are destroying our natural wildlife areas; when diving please remember that we are in the sea animals realm and it should always be kept this way. Do not touch or disturb anything under-water. Even a simple act like touching coral can seem trivial, but in fact this can cause the coral to die and the eco system around it to die as well. Leave everything as you found it and conserve our beautiful planet for our generations to come.
